Fibromyalgia

Options

I have osteoporosis, which became a bit worse after my chemo. I now did some blood work by my G.P. today to rule out other things before he decides to diagnose fibromyalgia. My mother has it. Does anyone know if fibromyalgia is common for women or people that go through the trauma of chemo or surgery? Trauma apparently, can bring on fibromyalgia. I had posted a few weeks ago, about stiff legs that I still had when my last chemo was March 22, 2017. I am certain it can't still be from the chemo? I was also told it is not neuropathy. My knee joints hurt and are stiff and aching all over my body. I think I have solved the puzzle. Don't want to have it, but at least I am almost sure I know what it is now. When I was visiting my mother in the summer, I was sitting with her having lunch and had to get up for a minute. Well, as usual I could hardly move from the stiffness for a minute. She pointed out it may be fibromyalgia? So, anyone here have it from trauma?

I started Aromatase Inhibitors in 2012 and stopped in the summer of 2014 because of terrible SEs. Months later I still had extreme painful, stiff muscles and joints and my primary physician started treating me for fibromyalgia-cymbalta. After a year and a half I stopped the cymbalta because I felt better but months later began to feel pain in lower back which was eventually DX stage IV to my back. Short answer- emotional, drug and physical trauma can trigger it. The emotional trauma of my DX and treatment and the sudden death of my son 3 months later certainly was both physically and mentally devastating. don't ignore the pain but try not to let it cause you to stop moving. Be vigilant and politely vocal to your medical team about this discomfort. Hope you find the root of it for peace of mind. Hugs. Jo

Thanks for that reponse JoE777. I am sorry to hear it became more than fibromyalgia. I am still exercising and I just try and work through the stiffness. This really is the gift that keeps on giving. Please take care.
