Has anyone had to change insurance in between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of DIEP? I will likely be in that position and am wondering if I will have difficulty getting phase 2 approved.

Thanks,

Rebekah

You shouldn't have a problem; if the new insurance covers a mastectomy, as I understand it, federal law requires the insurance to cover reconstruction. Phase 1 or 2 shouldn't matter. I had to change insurance 2 days prior to my last chemo session - not a problem.

Ditto what Runrcrb said. Had to change insurance 2 times. No problem with coverage.

Thank you all. This is a relief. I have a tricky work situation where I’m getting laid off so glad to hear I will be ok when I switch over to my husband’s insurance
