TC × 4 - reaction on arm at infusion site

Hi everyone 😊

Im getting my infusions with no port. There are only 2 places they can use and the other arm isnt a candidate because of lymph node removal. About a week following my 1st infusion, i got an allergic reaction only at area where the medications went in. Now a week in after my second one, i think.its happening again because its getting pink and itchy.

Did this happen to any of you and what did they do? I'd really hate to get a port for the last 2 infusions. 😒

Thanks, Cindy 🤗

I forget the medical term for this, but Taxotere can cause a "chemo burn." (That's what I called it when I had it.)

My MO at the time didn't really do anything about it, but they did move the IV to a different part of my unaffected arm each time. I felt that bigger veins became less irritated than smaller veins. The spots where I had a TC infusion remained slightly irritated for months, but it improved gradually and is okay now.

If they can't find good veins for your last two infusions, a PICC line might be a better option than having a port put in. And definitely a better option than using your affected arm! Best wishes to you.
