scared about my mom’s mammogram results

hi. first must apologise, my english isn’t so good. my mom’s mammogram says she has a focal asymmetry on her left breast, but it says the BI-RADS category is only 1. i figured it’s just okay but she is kind of worried and she’s pretty much preparing for the worst to happen. she’s scheduled for another one tomorrow...i figured it is ok because she has had benign asymmetries before, and BI-RADS 1 means okay, right? our family also has essentially no breast cancer in our history. in any case i’m still kind of scared. i’m also only in high school and i don’t think i can take this now, i hate to be selfish about it but i can’t handle it, also financially breast cancer would be the worst place for my family to be. i’m really hoping it is benign. any reassuring words would be amazing; is it likely just benign like all of the other ones before, or might it be like, bad and negatively life-changing?

I am sorry you are feeling scared but it's normal to be scared. Try to breathe through it and not worry too far in advance. This may be a big nothing.... and if it is something, you can worry then. I know that's easier said than done but try. My kids and friends are more worried about me than I am, but when the worry is expressed in loving terms it is actually very comforting because it reminds me how important I am to my loved ones. So give your Mom some good hugs and hope for the best!

thank you santabarbarian!!! we got results back for the second mammogram. super suprised at the speed to be honest!!! but the results are normal! thank you, that really helped me and reassured me!!
