Focal Asymmetry versus Developing Asymmetry

Hi,

Pain in the ass here. Screening mammogram using digital tomosynthesis. Second mammogram, first one 4 years ago. No call back on first mammogram.

Two days after regular screening, call back for ultrasound and possible “spot” mammogram. I was connected to a “nurse navigator” who told me l had a focal asymmetry in my left breast and needed further imaging and ultrasound. I was so surprised by the whole thing, my usual questions just didn’t happen. She seemed surprised or unaware of previous mammograms, but then she said, “well that was back in 2014”.

Pain in the ass questions....

Should I assume that this finding was not on my first mammogram? If so, is it then a “developing asymmetry”? Is that worse?

I have no idea what to expect.

I am 54, perimenopausal...I still have regular periods although 3 months apart usually.

I have looked through the forums but have seen very little about focal asymmetry....could be a good thing?

I have my next testing on Friday and I need to leave my frickin boobs alone or they will be super sore

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.
