Delayed Reconstruction Without Expanders/Implants?

I've lost too much weight for immediate natural reconstruction following BMX and am not a good candidate for permanent implants. I cannot have subpectoral implants due to muscle issues and my skin is thin, making subdermal implants non ideal.

My BS (25 years of experience) and the first PS (6 years of experience) I consulted with say I need expanders/implants in the time between the BMX and reconstruction to prevent tightening and scarring issues. The first PS was going to protect the expanders/implants with alloderm.

The second PS (25 years of experience) I consulted with was initially going to just leave me flat until reconstruction due to concerns about subdermal implants but when I mentioned the concerns raised by my BS and the first PS about going flat temporarily he relented and said he could put small expanders in just to keep some slack there.

I'm curious, has anyone had good flap reconstruction results after being flat for a few months?
