Hello all. I had my implant exchange surgery 3 mo ago. I noticed one of the implants seemed to take on a ridged shape. The p.s. said to start taking vitamin e and we'll keep an eye on it. Then this morning I woke up and the other side is completely misshapen. Has anyone else had a similar experience and what was the outcome? I've read about aspen ultrasound technology to avoid another surgery. Has anyone used this technique?

Hello Dm39! I wanted to see how things were going for you and if you’d had a chance to look any further into the Aspen ultrasound therapy for capsular contracture. I, too, have capsular contracture right now and am hoping I’m a candidate for the therapy.

Hi Seemaryrock! My surgeon said the aspen therapy is a waste of money. I asked him to put me on singulair and it seemed to help a bit. Was on it for a month before I saw any changes. I did put on a little weight from it though. So don't stay on it longer than you need to. At this point my cancer has recurred so I will be having the implants along with the capsules removed. When I receive my next set of implants, I will have the doctor put my on singulair right away because I read that capsular contracture happens usually around the 3 month mark. Which is when mine happened. Taking the singulair before this point will reduce the risk. My surgeon did say that because I have no tissue that the capsules actually serve a purpose of making me look fuller. If your capsules are odd shaped they might have to be removed but if they just hardened a bit, try the singulair. Good luck to you! I was just seeing you're about my age and have kids. Fight as hard as you can because it's all we can do. Be diligent with your screening. Mine returned within a year, in the capsule. Light and love!
