PS who does DIEP in San Diego
Does anyone have any recommendations for a doctor that does DIEP in San Diego? I need a 2nd opinion PS consult.
Thank!

hi rdeesides...
If you are willing to make the trip to LA, I can highly recommend Dr. Charles Tseng w/ UCLA. He did the DIEP surgery on my left breast in May. I will have the final corrective surgery after I finish radiation. He very talented and professional and I was extremely impressed with the UCLA hospital. Let me know if you have any specific questions. It's not an easy surgery, but I'm happy that I was able to have the option.

I'd recommend either Dr Anshu Gupta of Verve PS in Solana Beach, Dr John Apostolides of Defy PS in Point Loma, or Dr Michael Halls of La Jolla Breast Institute.
All are well respected in town. I only had a consults for implant reconstruction with them--I won't be having reconstruction after all b/c I was diagnosed with brain mets right after I met with them--but they all come highly recommended, all do DIEP, and all made good impressions when I met them. I'd had previous LD flap reconstruction at UCSD in 2015 which was a disaster, so I had something to compare them to. Had I gone forward with reconstruction, I would have used Dr Halls. I think a consult with any of them regarding DIEP would be worth your time.

Hi Rebekah,
I second Dr. Anshu Gupta in Solana Beach. He did my reconstructive surgery (prepectoral implants) and did a fine job. I trusted him and had good results. If I had the health for it I would have loved to do a DIEP, but alas I could not. But I know he does them and he is thorough and does good work.
Best of luck to you!

Thank you all so much for your recommendations! I have made an appointment with Dr. Gupta for a consult. I was leaning towards him anyway but had not gotten any first hand recommendations for him so was nervous if it was the right thing to do. It sounds like it is! I am hopeful he can give me some good advice on how to proceed.
Thanks again!
Rebekah

My surgery is a week away, on Dec. 12th and I found out today that Dr. Apostolides will be assisting with the surgery so I get a 2 for 1! I will keep you posted afterwards!

A friend of mine who went through BC highly recommended Dr. A so you should have a great team! Her breasts turned out great and years later she still loves them

I had surgery 12/12. I’m pleased so far but reserve judgment until Phase 2. I had a UMX so it may not be easy to get them to match. I love what he did with the flap. Will have minimal scarring. He also made my stomach tight and flat! Anyway, just wanted to note in case anyone is looking for a PS in San Diego. He also did another DIEP about a week after mine, so it seems he does do them fairly often, though I don’t think 1 a week.
