Stereotactic Biopsy

I have a suspicious asemmetry near the chest wall. It was found on my mammogram. I was called back for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. It did not show up on the ultrasound. Next I was told I needed a mammogram guided stereotactic biopsy. I went last week for that. After taking 11 mammogram images, I was told they could not do the biopsy! I was there almost two hours with the technician and radiologist trying to get the right position.. The radiologist told me that the needle would hit the receptor, so he was unable to move forward with the biopsy! I was so disappointed that it was never done. The radiologist suggested I just have an MRI with contrast instead.

I'm scheduled fir the MRI in three weeks! In the meantime, I'm on pins and needles! From what I've read, chest wall lesions are hard to get at.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I’m so sorry you had to go through that, and that you have to wait. I posted my biopsy experience on the Not Diagnosed, but Worried thread. Mine didn’t go as planned either, but they were able to get samples. Waiting for results now... sendinghugs to you while you wait.
