Hi guys, I had a lumpectomy four days ago. My post op appt was still a week away from today, but they called and moved it up to tomorrow!!!! Five days post op. Is this random or should I be worried?? Is it possible for the path results to be in this quick, I wonder? My mind has jumped to “oh gosh, it is cancer. And they want me in there as soon as possible to continue with treatment.” I’m still praying it’s all benign. But now my mind is running. Anyone else encounter this?

I had my diagnosis from my biopsy before my lumpectomy. Are you unfortunately still waiting? I myself wouldn’t have been able to go to my post-op follow up that soon as I got the flu after surgery. Did you ask them why they moved it? It could be due to a scheduling conflict on their side. I don’t remember when my dr had my pathology report (clear margins) but that was a phone call.

I had a core biopsy for diagnosis, lumpectomy to remove tumor, so I can't weigh in on your specific experience; but, I think it is possible to have pathology results in. My biopsy pathology only took a few days. Regardless, imo, it is better to move faster than slower. I hope it is not malignant, but it sounds like you have a good medical team on your side, either way. If you have someone that you can take with you, it might be helpful, just in case. Best wishes!

update! I received the pathology results from my lumpectomy: benign!!!!! I am doing a happy dance!

But part of me wonders how sure they are?? Did they remove the whole lump? I have a follow up mammogram in 6 mos. Do those ever show something bad after a seemingly good lumpectomy? I have moments where I let my doubts cloud my happiness! Why?? But for the most partI’m rejoicing in this news. Thank you to this group for the invaluable support.

They know they removed the entire lump if it had good margins. That was probably in the report!
