Hello,

Is it normal to feel the tumor became bigger after core biopsy??

My mom had biopsy on 27/8 and I got the result that it is IDS (ER+PR+HER2 (2+) (still pending FISH) my mom didn’t know anything about her cancer. The surgeon scheduled her lumpctomay on 23rd September. However today she is worry and told me she feels her tumor enlarged!!!!!! Is it normal to feel the tumor became bigger after the biopsy???? Before 22 days the tumor size was 1.4cm on radiology report. Do you felt your tu your tumor become bigger within a month! Or after

I think it could feel bigger because of swelling/inflammation around the tumor. It did get a needle stuck into it. I feel like mine felt bigger, but it was definitely irritated. I kept poking it too (I guess to keep checking it), so that probably didn't help.

I had 4 weeks in between my imaging and my surgery, and my tumor grew by only 0.1 cm. So, 1.1 cm to 1.2 cm.

Maybe the area is swollen from trauma that occurred during the biopsy. I was very hurt from my botched biopsy, but didn't feel anything change. Of course the area was black and blue so I wasn't touching it. And yeah, that trauma lasted at least a month.

Mine went from feeling like a grape to a grapefruit in the two weeks between biopsy and diagnostic scans (MRI, CT).

I went thru that and my surgeon assured me it didn’t rapidly grow overnight. The sudden “growth”was just from the inflammation caused by the tumor.

My breast definitely felt lumpier after my biopsy because of the trauma of the needles. It was sort of like scar tissue? Not an indication that the lump was bigger.

Mine definitely feels a little bigger since my biopsy, but it's also tender which makes me think it's definitely just due to swelling. The tumour is bigger than I thought it was, I thought I had heard the radiologist say 1.3 but the surgeon said 2cm. I will be having surgery on September 27, so we'll see what the actual size is after he takes it out!
