After therapy, what?

Here I am again. I am Sophia, 38 years-old and my mum, 77, was diagnosed With breast cancer last february. The Group was so supportive, you all gave me so much strength and precious practical advice before my mum started chemo. Almost a month ago she completed the 6 chemotherapies and from next week she is starting a cycle of 25 radiotherapies. It was a difficult period for all of us and I now find myself in desperate need of positive thinking. My mum had single mastectomy, she had 3 tumours grade 1 and 2 and 7 out of the 11 lemphic nods removed in the surgery had cancer. My brother and I try to be strong for her but the uncertainty involving cancer is sometimes unbearable.Now that her therapy leads to its conclusion, I am not sure what to expect. I realise I have to be optimistic primarily for her, but the fact that cancer spread to her nods makes it hard. I guess I need to get my hopes up knowing that things can still work out good. Sophia....now, as always, it is time for living. None of us knows what the future has in store for us. I WONDER, Sophia, do you have children of your own? I am a mom of three adult children and, as a mother, from the moment they were born, I worried about them. As I look back on the years, my worrying never made for an ounce of good. I prayed a lot too! When they were born, I wished that all of them had a guardian angel above them. Then, during their teen years, when tragedy struck three heroic friends of theirs, I prayed for angels to be TWO steps ahead of them. That said, I still worried....But....

I love my life. No regrets that any of the miserable health issues that I have had can make a dent in my being. So, my best advice to you, don’t be afraid of what comes next. Instead, let life unfold around you. you will be as amazed as I am......carpe diem

Sofia, I think your mother has an excellent prognosis after completing all the treatments. So my short answer to your question is, she should be living her life as if nothing happened.

My diagnosis was probably similar to your mom's diagnosis. Five years later I continue working full-time and doing everything else that a woman my age would be doing if she didn't have BC in her history.
