** ER+PR+ and HER2 positive!! HELP **

Hello,

I really need help in understanding my mother result I just got it from the lap and will not see the doctor tell next week. The tumor size 14*10mm. ER and PR is strongly positive 95%. What Im worry about is HER2 weakly positive (2+) I wished to be negative The report says FISH to follow.!!

The Ki67 is 5% is this bad or good? It looks the tumor is strongly hormonal. But the her2 positive means it is aggressive???

My mother is 68 years old.

The HER2 result is equivocal, so they have to do a different kind of test - FISH. This will decide either positive or negative.

KI67 of 5% is a good sign... this means the tumor is slow growing.

But otherwise, you will deffinitely learn more when you and your mum meet with the oncologist... prepare your questions, so that you don't forget them when in the office. It really helps

thanks. It is very helpful information. This means the HER2 is not yet finally confirmed? Im too worry about the stage as well which I think we will not know till the surgery

The doctor didn’t order any procedure yet. What usually come after the biopsy report? Is it the CT scan? Or more blood tests?

danaqtr - IHC is the usual testing process for determination of Her2 status at biopsy. In a percentage of cases the result is not completely negative, but also not strongly positive to warrant an automatic move to treatment as Her2+. When this happens a second testing method is used (FISH) to confirm whether the tumor is Her2- or Her2+. It is important to determine this before treatment decisions are made since some Her2+ patients need to receive chemo and commence targeted therapy before the tumor is removed surgically. The Ki67 of 5% is low, which is somewhat discordant with a Her2+ result - which is usually a more aggressive profile, but tumors are not homogenous, so a biopsy result is not always definitive. Didyou receive a grade in the pathology report?
