OMG! LE will bankrupt any pt/ survivor! These Oncologists & Surgeon don’t know & don’t care! I’m on permanent disability 6 yrs later because if LE from head to toe. I was a successful Oncology RN & have spent over 1/2 of my retirement in LE therapy & garments when I was trying to meet my deductible. I’ll Never recover financially...unless I win the lottery

I wish all the pubs that Breast Cancer gets esp in the month of October would focus more on financial survival after a DX. There are countless women who don’t have the resources to pay for meds and treatments. They always contend there are all these agencies to help but those agencies are overwhelmed and underfunded.

Pharmaceutical companies and the medical profession reap a fortune from breast cancer patients and God forbid you don’t have health insurance because there aren’t many, if any, easy payment plans for bills in the thousands of dollars and certainly not for radiation or chemo.

Fortunately my husband and I had reached our deductible when I had radiation treatments so we were covered 100%. Idk what we would have done if we hadn’t.

Research is important and survival rates have come a long way but financial aid for breast cancer has not.
