Ovarian suppression, has anyone tried it during chemo?

I am 28 years old and just diagnosed with IDC with HER triple positive (do not know the staging yet). My husband and I have been married for 3 years and have been trying to get pregnant prior to the diagnoses. One of my biggest dreams in my life is to be a mom and I can’t imagine life if I didn’t have kids. While freezing my eggs is not covered under my insurance and is way too expensive. I'm trying to find other ways to remain fertile. I've read research of how you can take Lupron or Zoladex to suppress your ovaries during chemo. Has anyone went this route?

Hello Mrsayala24, I am 29 year old and i was also trying for baby prior to my 2nd diagnosis but thn this happened..i have been diagnosed in JULY..i also couldn't do egg freezing thing because of cost and time constraint...I have done my first chemo on 17th august...and i had Lupron injection one week before first chemo...Dr said it may help to prevent any damage to ovaries but they are not 100% sure...i also have done some recent studies about it ...i really hope it works...You should go for it...i am having lupron monthly injections...there are also some three monthly injections i guess..

There are programs out there to help.with the cost when you have been diagnosed.

Talk to the social worker at your hospital. I am triple positive, and I also had lupron during treatment, more for helping prevent recurrence than to preserve fertility. Good luck to you.
