Start taxol tmrw
need some positive stories about taxol. I'm afraid from some of what I've read. AC was tough but I got thru it. Praying it's same even but not worse 🙏

I did 4DD taxol last summer. It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't as bad as I expected. I didn't have any nausea, but I did have heartburn. The worst part for me was the bone pain. My infusions were on thursdays, and I spent Saturday and Sunday in bed with aches similar to a bad case of the flu. The first one was the worst because I wasn’t expecting it. After that first infusion of Taxol I started taking ibuprofen and Claritin on Friday and the aches weren’t as bad for the last three infusions. Make sure you ask your oncologist before you take the ibuprofen though. I also had muscle aches from the Neulasta injection, and I think that the combined aches from the Neulasta in my upper body and the Taxol in my lower body were just a little overwhelming. I think if I had just had the Taxol aches it probably would’ve been much easier. My oncologist did say several times that most people have an easier time with Taxol than with AC, but since I did not have any nausea with AC the Taxol just seemed harder for me. I think I was backwards.
Good luck tomorrow

Ok, thank u so much for the reply. Good to know what to expect. Helps a lot. Thank you. I too am doing the DD and hope no reaction.

I am on my second round of taxol and herceptin (6th chemo). Compare to AC, this is so much managable. I do get muscle pain from Nuelasta injection so it doubles the amount of pain for me. I am on tylrnol 3 and gabapantene that is helping but day 3 to day 6 is very hard. Good luck.

I did 4 ROUNDS DD AC and 4ROUNDS DD TAXOL. WITH herceptin weekly

May I ask why are you having pain from chemo ?
-
Are you getting Neulasta ?
-
it's from the injections to make white blood cells
-
I know Neulasta gave me bone pains.
Maybe they don't give it with Taxol.
Good luck tomorrow.
Hugs.

How did it go today?
-
Hey! It went ok. My platelets were low as of Thursday so re did and just made it through. Stomach bit sore but overall feel ok. Thank u so much for asking and for all the support. Such a great group. Now I just pray it continues like this. Even if same as AC. Just hope not worse. My nurse said most fond it easier. And mine was taxol dd. Am wondering, if gonna get the rash when would that to occur usually?
-
Why was day 3-6 so bad? Had first one yesterday and just bit tired today. No pain yet.
-
dlittkeman, I hear the rash can vary a lot -- I got it very briefly in week 5. That was my low point for blood cells. Over the counter meds took care of it, or maybe just my own immune system recovering.
I'm glad it's going well for you!
