Experience with AC+T and TC
Hi all,
I know everyone's experience is different, but I was wondering if you could just comment on your experience with either of these chemo drugs. Did you do dose dense? What if any side effects did you have, were any permanent, and what stage and grade cancer did you have? For those that did TC, did you do 4 dose or 6 dose? I have read many women doing 4 dose TC but my doctor said if I were to do TC, it would be 6 dose series.

I had four rounds of TC. I tolerated it very well. Iced my hands and feet. I didn't cold cap but many with TC did and had good results. Best of luck.

I have 2 ACs under my belt. 2 more to go then 4 taxols. I'm on a dose dense schedule. It hits me hard but some fair much better than I do. My first round I barely consumed any food or water for days and I got sick from dehydration. That was certainly preventable had I gone in for hydration but I didn't, my bad. Next round my antiemetics were switched around and I did better. Less nausea, body aches, headache. Fatigue is insane for me. Second AC round my bones didn't hurt after my Neulasta so that was great. Mouth sores galore. Constiption and diarrhea, both. Had to bust out Baby Butt Balm for my poor rear.
It really is a crapshoot. I have no heartburn or GERD. Some have awful GERD. Many go and exercise everyday. I was an avid runner and did yoga 5 days a week. I can't even imagine even trying to run up the stairs in my house now.
My hair started falling out before my second AC, about day 12. I've lost at least 11 lbs.
Best to you,
Jes

I'm only one round into four rounds of TC so I can't comment on how it goes overall. But I'm wondering if your MO said six rounds if you did TC because you had lymph node involvement? I was node negative so even though my cancer is very aggressive, only 4 rounds were recommended.

I just finished dose dense AC-T chemo 2 days ago. It wasn’t a picnic, but not the end of the world either. I tolerated AC much better than Taxol. I walked 5 miles every day except days 3 and 4 after the treatment, did elliptical and strength exercises during AC. On taxol, I still walk and do elliptical, but no more strength exercises. Have no power to spare. I drink 3 liters of water a day and go to acupuncture. Had mouth sores on aC, not on Taxol. Somehow I still managed to gain 7 lb.Hate every day of it.
