This article is exactly what my new book is about: The Miracle of Music (jeanniefinnegan.com). My book is a collection of true stories of the healing power of music for those with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. The powerful healing and therapeutic effects of music are still so under-utilized, even though we all see the benefits of music in our everyday lives. When someone is facing a serious, chronic, or terminal illness or disorder and must receive care at home or in a facility, or faces end-of-life issues, music is an effective therapeutic tool and non-pharmaceutical intervention that makes a REAL difference in quality of life. However, many such individuals can not access music on their own and need someone to bring music to them and share the miracle of music with them. This is the message of my book - to share the miracle with those around us who greatly need it! So happy to see more studies on this. I believe music is likely the most effective non-pharmaceutical intervention for hospice patients and long-term care patients.
