I would like to see if anyone fits the above criteria. I am trying to decide if I want to do that above regimen or the TCH (Taxotere, Carboplatin, and Herceptin) every 3 weeks. Any advice would be very helpful. Thank you in advance. I have a couple of days to make my decision. Also I don't know if I want to have a port put in or not. What do you all think about that? I have had 2 surgeries to remove the tumor (the first time didn't get clean margins) and I am really nervous about having a port put in especially if I have to do another surgery.

I did TCH and had a port. The port placement is more of a procedure than a surgery. I did it because my veins have always been hard to find, leading to multiple pokes, a fear of needles, and terrible bruising. I was glad I did the port. If you are stage 1a, I think you have IDC with your DCIS, because DCIS is, I believe, considered stage 0. I am not triple positive, but am Her2+ and grade three, and was told TCH would be the most effective treatment. I also liked doing every three weeks rather than every week. I hope this info helps you with your decision.

    Best,

    L.

My MO preferred I try it without a port and I did just fine through my 12 Taxols. She said it’s just one more surgery, one more scar, one more reminder that would be better to be without if you don’t need it.

I did taxol and herceptin. I loved my port even though I was scared to put it in. Come join us on the triple positive board...
