Hi

Firstly I must say I have not been diagnosed with BC. I found a hard lump, upper outer quadrant of left breast. I had been getting really achey pain in armpit and down my side which caused me to self exam. Found it super easy. Booked doc who then also found lump straightaway. He was great and referred me for urgent mammo and ultrasound. Had them both done and could see on ultrasound my lump, from what I’d seen on Dr. Google 🤣 it did indeed look like a cyst. Sonographer continued to find blobs throughout both my dense breasts. After we were done she left and spoke with Radiologist, then came back to me and said ‘we think the lump you can feel is a cyst’...at the time that’s all I needed to hear, I knew doc would follow up. With hindsight I wished I’d asked, ‘think’ or ‘know’. Anyway, I got a call next day from doc who asked me to come in on Tuesday to discuss report. I’m pretty sure he’s going to tell me same thing, looks like a cyst, have a nice life. However, the pain in my armpit will not quit, my breast has been itching like crazy particularly nipple and I’ve noticed a burning sensation too.....would all this be normal with a cyst or should i be asking for additional testing when I go see him Tuesday? Really don’t want to be drama queen but things aren’t right. I had melanoma on chest wall on same side, although 20 years ago. Would love to hear your thoughts . Thanks so much.

Cysts can cause itching and burning. I completely understand why you are concerned and I would definitely relay myconcerns to your doctor. I’ve had cysts before. I don’t remember whether they itched or burned but they are very common.

Try not to worry. Keep us posted.

    Diane
