Hi. I’m 35 years old with 3 kids and am paranoid that I may have IBC. My symptoms started about 8 days ago with what looked like a small bruise like mark on my breast. Since then it seems to be pinkish and just generally redder than my other breast. It itches but under the breast fold. My breast isn’t hot, no peau d’orange and it has not grown in size nor is it swollen. It looks normal except for this faint Pinkish outline on the top. It’s definatly there some people can see it and others cannot. I find it’s barely noticeable in morning but becomes more apparent throughtout day esp if I sweat. I made an appt. at the breast clinic on sept 4 but I’m loosing my mind with fear. Don’t know what else to do :

I’ve had IBC and have read heaps here about this form of bc over the years and I’d say you don’t have it. So relax. And do report back here after your checkup with the breast clinic.

Good old Google. Scaring people since 1998...

This sounds very much like a rash called "prickly heat". We see it in babies a lot, under their arms and around their necks. Anywhere there a skin folds, the sweat gets trapped and it excoriates the skin, leaving this pink-red rash. It is very itchy and burny. My suggestion is that you try soothing this with some corn starch, which you can get at the grocery store. Wash it every days and dry it very well, the apply the corn starch with your fingers. If the rash gets better or lighter, I can almost guarantee you this isn't IBC. IBC only gets worse, and rapidly. It does not wax and wane.

If the corn starch treatment doesn't help, you prolly should see a dermatologist. The would be the experts on skin, anywhere on the body.

thank you so much ladies. I doubt it’s prickly rash because it doesn’t itch nor it it raised or hot. Simply a small discolouration of redness that comes and goes and is more visible under certain lighting. I tried hydrocortisone and this make my stretch marks more visible and purplish so made it worse instead of better. Very strange. I have an appointment with my breast surgeon September 4th. I’m hoping to get some input then :( definately not the classic IBC presentation but these Days you never know

Athlete's foot powder can also often clear this up if it is a fungal infection, which is common.

I have a question and I'm not sure but I'm only 18 years old and between my boobs underneath I have a blueish greenish colour shaped like an oval, looks like 3 ovals all lined up, it doesnt hurt, i noticed a little blueish colour about a month ago and it was very small but now it seems a little bigger. I dont know if it's because of my bra piece is always in the position and it just Mark's it as a bruise or something. I dont know

update for those who want to know: went to severa dermatologists and one breast surgeon who examined but didn’t do any imaging and the verdict is vascular congestion due to a breast augmentation done this past January. The pink colouring comes and goes. Still around.
