I feel silly but...

So, a few years ago my mom was diagnosed with BC in her 40s. All of her doctors encouraged, advised, even pushed for me to start getting a mammo for a baseline, but my doctor was not supportive and felt there was no cause at my age. Fast forward a few years and here I am.

My case is slightly complicated apparently because I have an ICD for my heart on the side in question. My doctor found a lump I didn’t know that I had when I went in there for the weird lumps I found accidentally. I don’t do breast exams because I’m very fluffy in the boob department, I mean seriously they are huge! Anywho, what I went in for was on the underside of my breast deep were hard vein like lumps the don’t move and go into my breast but is attached to a lump on my rib at the very bottom of my breast. Thrombophlebitis was ruled out due to it not being a superficial vein. I have a mammogram and breast ultrasound on Tuesday, was warned it would be very painful due to my icd. And my doctor said that my lumps are very concerning (and have thickened in the last day). Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you

Depends upon the position of the device and whether it gets compressed along with the breast. People with pacers and other devices have mammograms all the time, most techs know how to handle them.

I am sure by this time you have been told not to have an MRI because of that implanted device.

yes I regularly remind my doctors because sometimes the forget. The device was placed rather low and cut into milk ducts and also scared significantly (I did not have the most caring are considerate ep). They mentioned the need to shift it around to get the best image they can, which I’m sure is why they are having the ultrasound the same day. I know I have read cord or vein like lumps are not typically malignant, but most areas I read that they are would be the upper side of the breast. I was wondering if this should be as concerning as it feels.

I hope everything checks out ok for you but either way I would like to say, no matter how big or lumpy your breasts are or how impossible you think it would be to find something, check them anyway. You might at least become familiar enough with them to recognize something new or out of place.
