Back Again - Chest Wall Recurrence

Options

I can't believe I am back (don't we all say that -- but its so true).

I had an original DX of TNBC, Stage IIA - did neo chemo & bilateral mastectomy. I even achieved a pCR.

Yesterday I was DX with a recurrence within the muscles of my chest. Two interesting (scary?) changes is my cancer changed to ER+/PR-/HER2-.

Also noted on my pathology report is the comment "desmoplastic tissue infiltrated by cords of highly pleomorphic malignant cells with numerous mitoses". I started to Google 'pleomorphic' and scared myself silly so I decided to stay away from Dr. Google for a while.

Anyway - thanks for listening to me. I just don't understand cancer.

I am so sorry to hear of your recurrence. Praying this has not spread elsewhere. Hoping your team has a plan in place soon. Cancer sucks.

Thank you all for the support, I really appreciate it. I have a PET/CT scheduled for next Wednesday (it was supposed to be on Monday but my insurance co is being an ass but that is another story LOL) and I get results on Friday.

If all cancer is in my chest area, we are possibly just looking at surgery + radiation. Any other areas -- well, I am not mentally ready to deal with that prospect just yet. :)

That seems a very sane attitude to me: deal with what's in front of you a day at a time. Keep posting; we are with you. ×

    Kelly 21,

I'm so sorry to hear of your recurrence. It's very difficult to get this news, I know. I was dx with recurrence of TNBC in March and am just finishing chemo, possibly radiation, but also surgery. Scans in 2 weeks.

You are not alone. Please keep us posted.

    XO

    Johanna

    So.....

I had a CT scan on Tuesday. I just checked my patient record and results were posted.

"Evidence of metastatic disease with innumerable liver lesions in the left and right hepatic lobes. The largest in the left lob measures up to 4 CM. The largest in the left measures up to 5 CM.".

So that's it - I'm the newest member of Metsville.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Since it is ER positive this time, I hope that more treatment options exist which will knock down those lesions
