About a year ago, I felt a small lump on my right breast. I saw my doctor a couple weeks later and she said it was nothing to worry about...just normal breast tissue.

At the end of February I had to move suddenly which meant (among other things) that my insurance changed and I needed a new doctor. This took several months. I finally saw her at the end of June. I told her about the lump and she referred me for a combined screening/diagnostic mammogram which I had this afternoon. After I had the mammogram I waited a little while and then was told I needed an ultrasound. After the ultrasound I was told that the lump is probably not normal breast tissue and needs to be biopsied.

I have been scheduled for a biopsy next Wednesday. I'm trying not to freak out.

    Hi phillycatlvr!

I am not an expert and I am on this forum simply because I too am going through a breast cancer scare. I just wanted to say I hope that your biopsy turns out negative and all is well. Please do keep us updated as to how things go. The waiting and not knowing is very scary and it is hard not to panic. I hope that in these next few days that you can find something that brings you peace.

I have an ultrasound tomorrow after having had a diagnostic mammogram and a spot mammogram. No call for a biopsy yet but I can imagine that is scary as I am very scared.

Sending you prayers and hopes that all is okay.

It sounds like you have a doctor who is taking it seriously. Listen to your doctors and don't be afraid to be your own advocate. If they won't listen to you then find one who will. Dense breast tissues can sometimes make them think it is normal and also make it a little more difficult. The new 3D mamos are supposed to be easier to detect in that case I know. Some places they will read it right away and tell you the results as well instead of making you wait to find out. I know it is scary and hard to wait. You can always ask them if they do that when you have your testing done. I hope you both will be ok. If your results are not what you want them to be, remember there is someone here with your diagnosis who can offer support as well. Will keep you both in my prayers.
