Hello-I'm new here! I just had my first fibroadenoma surgically removed yesterday morning. This was something we were watching over the course of the past 6 months when we discovered it at the beginning of 2018. I started taking a DIM-plus estrogen metabolizer right away in hopes that I could stall it's growth by flushing out any extra estrogen in my body, since most of what I've read has said fibroadenomas are most likely connected to extra estrogen floating around. At the 6 month follow up I recently had, the US showed that it more than doubled in size and was at 5 cm which qualified for it's surgical removal. But, there was also a new very small one on the other side at 8 mm. This was discouraging to me because I was hoping that I had been preventing fibroadenoma growth, and not only had the original one exploded in size but there was a new one too. I had a consultation from my OB before surgery, and she said it probably was NOT a hormone related issue because my cycles are very regular and predictable, and that I could chalk it up to quirky genetics or just bad luck. At the consultation with the surgeon, he said nobody really knows, but it might be linked to caffeine.

I have a few questions since I am still fairly new to the fibroadenoma world.

1-Has anyone found a way to stop them from growing or forming? Or have any advice or evidence on how to make them stop being a re-occuring problem?

2-What do women do when they don't stop growing? Continuous surgical removals? Mastectomies?

3-Has anyone heard of taking Turkey Tail Mushroom supplements to stop tumor growth? I have read testimonies of people using them for boosting immunity and to prevent and reverse tumor growth in people and also in pets. It looks expensive to maintain, but I'm wondering if it might be worth a shot for this next 6 months and to see what the results are at the next follow up US. Has anybody tried them? If so, what are pros/cons?

Thanks in advance!
