Hi,

For one month I've had extreme itching, a small red patch, a little leak from same nipple, lumpier boob in that area- felt by husband and go too. Since last week the rash has gone from the size of a 20c piece to this big. My gp sent me for an ultrasound which showed nothing except 'lactating' breasts as I'm due in 5 weeks (third baby so I know what lactating breasts feel like). My doc rang to say even though ultrasound was fine... that it felt off to him and to come in but that he is away for a few weeks so to see another gp.

Went in today. She felt my boob without even taking top or bra off. Said she hadn't heard of a breast cancer that had itching. And has given me a referral to a dermatologist. Then said maybe get your obstetrician to have a look at it in case they can think of something else.

I'm wondering if you wouldn't be happy with these answers - see the dermatologist (steroid cream for a week did nothing) and ask the baby doctor?! or if you would check out another gp.

I would go see a breast surgeon or a breast specialist, not a GP. Can you go to a breast clinic? IBC often causes itching. Most drs aren't aware though..

I would also see a breast surgeon/specialist myself. Likely it could be due to hormonal/lactating, but it would give you piece of mind to have someone that all they do is look and feel boobs all day to give you their opinion. If you go that route, make sure you bring your ultrasound.

On a happier note, Congrats on your soon to be addition to the family!

I agree with everyone else. You need to see a breast specialist. Your GP means well, but he does not specialize in conditions of the breast.
