I am freaking out
I am brand new here. I recently had an annual check-up in which I was placed on insulin for diabetes. She was concerned with my blood results and got me a referral to a hematology dr (which I know find out are ALSO oncologists). She asked if had a mammogram-I told her 3 years ago-so she got me a referral and I had the scan on the bus mammogram things. I then got a call from them to say I needed a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound as they found a group of microcalcifications on the upper/outer right breast (same breast I found a lump a few months ago but seemed to shrink)- no identifiable mass found. My dr told me to pick up the orders and set it up.
I set up the same day as my endocrinologist (for the diabetes) apt because there in the same side of town (about 45 min from me). I e-mailed the dr asking if I should be concerned of the initial findings and because of my blood counts being all over the place-all she emailed me back was 'come see me'. (going tomorrow).
Thing is, I've had two miscarriages also in the last 3 years (I'm 43)- both times previous I've shown elevated platelets, elevated wbc, and now the red cell distribution levels and the absolute neutrophil, lymphocyte/ monocyte also high.... I have constant itching on my face and neck (thought it was diabetes related).
Why would she refer me to a hematology dr also unless there is reason for concern. My appts are all next week, so it's the waiting game....my dad passed from cancer-no breast cancer from family that I'm aware of however all my dads side passed from cancer (siblings/parents). I'm starting to really freak out.....the results of the mammogram and the blood counts combined have me pretty upset. And it's odd to say-but I just keep having this anxiety-even before these results- about cancer for some reason....maybe because my dad passed 2 yrs ago and it's just that. Grrr....just looking to say hi and find a community here.

overit, I don't really know that any blood tests results that you are referring to that are an indication of breast cancer. The microcalculations are often benign and just need to be looked at closer. The hematology and breast issue are likely unrelated to my knowledge. My guess is that most women diagnosed with breast cancer have normal "general routine" blood work
