No boosts?

I did the Candian/Vancouver/Fast Track radiation where I would have three weeks of whole breast and a week of boosters, apparently all at a higher "dosage" to get it done in this timeline. I did two weeks of whole breast and then did the booster mapping. Two days before I was set to do my cone boosts during my third week, I was told I was not a good candidate for boosts, that my tumor bed was too big (I had a lumpectomy). My last radiation was to be the next day!

Anyone else ever have this happen? Not that I'm complaining or anything. It was just something I'd never considered.

Hi there! I too had such a big section removed in the lumpectomy that I had nothing left to boost! In my case, my RO mentioned the possibility at my first appointment, then I kinda lobbied for it. So good news, and congrats on finishing early. My only advice is to keep up with the exercises and moisturizer.

Georgia1 - I am kind of glad I hadn't heard about it before. It was a rather nice surprise! Yes, I will keep up with the lotions. Five days post rads, I can feel what people mean by "leathery" on the breast. Before, it was just pink. What exercises? I have been doing yoga, but wasn't given anything in particular. I can feel it tight in there.

My RO suggested that I keep doing the post-lumpectomy exercises for at least eight weeks after radiation treatments ended. Here's a link -- the side wings and stretching were most helpful to me.
