Breast biopsy tomorrow--question about underarm pain?
Hi all--
I have been lurking since my mammo came back needing more info--after ultrasound they want a biopsy. I have had tenderness under the arm of the targeted breast for a while, but I am sort of at that age where I am menopausal and everything hurts
During the ultrasound the tech seemed very interested in my underarm area and I just wondered if that was normal--I'd be interested in others experiences. No mention of the underarm on the US report. From the US:
"hypoechoic mass, with angular margins, and associated shadowing measuring up to 0.4
x 0.5 x 0.4 cm. There is an adjacent linear tract."
Any insight appreciated!
Also want to say I find you all inspirational and so brave!
Kate

Hi Kate, sorry you are here! I don't know what kind of biopsy you are having tomorrow. I had several but they were all in my breasts. I can't say I had any real pain. Just a pinch fro the injections and then a bit of pressure. The radiologist should explain every step to you. Don't be afraid to ask!! the worst thing you can do is go home without knowing what they did and what it might mean.
If you are becoming anxious or stressed, ask your doc for something to take the edge off. I went on Xanax last year as soon as she told me my diagnosis. After my mastectomy, I switched to Zoloft and that has done the trick for the most part. I still need a little extra "boost" sometimes but for the most part, I'm okay.
Let us know what's going on. You are not alone; we've all got your back.

Hi Kate,
My u/s also checked my lymph nodes and on my report it said:
Axilla: No abnormal lymph nodes
But my report also contained no mention of many of the other things that most contain so I figure it's subjective to the radiologist what they find important.
I'm sorry this is stressful, I'm right there with you. I find out tomorrow.
Hoping for the best for us both.

good morning Jkv924. Was there any mention of a BIRADS score from your ultrasound. That is usually a helpful hint.
-
hi! It was Birads 4, But in researching I found sources that claimed “irregular mass with angular margins and hypoechoic” would be considered 4c. I was at my biopsy yesterday and the doctor said it looked like a cyst – but seven business days for results. Grr.
