Hi,

I think my situation is very unusual however I wondered if anyone has undergone an immediate breast reconstruction and then been rediagnosed with residual/predating cancer? ( within a few months?)

I was advised to undergone an immediate reconstruction after a dx of extensive DCIS at 42. A few months after the reconstruction I found more lumps and it was found that I had alot of residual breast tissue and cancer ( in places the tissue was 4cm deep) .

I've had 3 futher operations and RT and alot of imaging but am finally clear.

The poor care has been far harder than the dx for me and if anyone has any tips on dealing with that I'd be very grateful. I have been left huge trust issues with health care professionals now which as I have 3 children I would love to overcome.

I live in the UK and must stress my outcome is unusua casel. Not a recurrence after many years.

Michelle
