My sister was recently diagnosed with Stage 2b, HER2+, HR-. She has 5 tumors. lumph biopsy came back negative. Bone scan with contrast showed a single lesion on her skull bone. An mri of the area showed it as "nonspecific 1cm lesion". Finally, a CT scan said "Given that the apparent isolated nature of the lesion and groundglass matrix, a calvarial hemangioma is favored." They did not do a biopsy because this type of hemangioma is benign and the oncologist seemed to think it was benign too. I've been googling and calvarial hemangioma is very rare. I wonder if they read the CT scan right. She's already started chemo. They are saying if it goes away then it probably was cancer. If it goes away, does that mean they will re-stage her to stage 4? If it is a bone mets, what's her prognosis?

If breast cancer travels away from the primary site in the breast it is metastatic. When an MRI showed 5 tumors in my sacrum and along my lowest vertebrae I was scheduled a pet scan. 5 Small pinpoints were seen in both lungs but couldn't be determined if cancer. The onc said my treatment for the cancer would resolve those small spots. 4 months into femara/kisqali has resolved two of the small ones and reduced the other three. The doctor believes they will all be resolved in the lung. If it is cancer the chemo will attack the tumor. If it is a cancer to the bone metastatic is stage 4. The articles on this site are great for your research. Stick to the real medical sites and don't get caught up in some of the studies and articles googled. It will take some time for the doctors to gather all the needed info to present her path to healing. Hugs and peace for you both.

    Dear Lady

For my diagnosis it took and Pet, MRI, Schintigraphia and finally a bone biposy to figure it out if it is a met. And still the bippsy answer was not really clear but we went on and treated it as a met and 9 months later here I am healing from both of the masses.

I am really glad kisqali worked on your sister!

Love and hugs for both of you!
