Just got my receptors

Talked to a breast cancer nurse who will be going with me to my surgeons appt tommorow with me because my  bad experiences with doctors has made me confrontational and angry(and right now I'm just angry I have to go through this at all so that's not helping)sometimes when I shouldn't be and she had a fuller account of the biopsy.

So I'm ER and PR positive. Sounds like I won't know her2 or oncotype until after surgery but she said since my grade is low it's almost likely negative though she can't say for sure.just her experience triple positives tend to have a much higher grade.  I know this is good news for more targeted chemo but I'm still on that no chemo ever fence.

They have direct to implant option here in my province but I would need to see the plastic surgeon to see if I qualify. Doubtful but doesn't hurt to ask.

So now I at least know my two receptors. Guessing I will find out more about surgery tomorrow.

That's weird. My HER status came at the same time of diagnosis.

It's Manitoba, they take thier sweet time for everything and it was from the core biopsy.It took this long just to get the two receptors.

Did she say what your grade was exactly or just said low?

I didn't have Oncotype till after surgery. They use a sample from the actual tumor for the Oncotype, not the biopsy sample.

It is kind of odd the HER2 wasn't reported. I thought the pathologists ran all the receptor stains at the same time. Did you arrange to get copies of your reports yet? My GP got them all for me in the early days but once I was all set up with the provincial cancer agency, I got copies of everything from them (including all the oncologists visit reports which they write up after every appointment, the surgeon's reports and all the lab and imaging test results)

I think she said grade 1,but nothing is for sure until the surgical pathology.

It's one of the issues I am having with the way this city works in regards to a persons health, you get a trickle of information at a time. First I knew it was cancer,then a week later I knew it was idc,then over a week after that I got the receptors, the her2 is still unknown. I don't think they do that here but I will be asking for copies from every doctor due to the fact I don't trust the lot of them as far as I can throw them.
