Ticking time bombs

I signed up and became a member a few years ago when at age 39 I experienced spontaneous nipple discharge from my right breast, a palpable mass felt and illidentified on u/s, same side. Pathology on discharge was benign and the breast specialist I met didn’t feel biopsy of the mass was necessary but left it up to me. I didn’t get it done since path on discharge was clear and specialist didn’t seem concerned.

Have had 3 mammograms since then, all clear except the one I had this past Monday. Got a call that there’s a suspicious abnormality identified on my breast images on the left side, and I need to return for more imaging/ultrasound. I go back this coming Tuesday. The woman who scheduled the return appointment said I’d know “something” before I leave that day. Whatever that means.

I still have clear discharge from the right but nothing seen on mammo on that side.

If this turns out to be nothing to worry about either I’m not sure what to think. I know our breasts change as we age but if this is going to be a constant worry with new or unresolved issues cropping up regularly I likely won’t ever relax.

Strong family history of bc, gastric cancer, and liver cancer, with young ages of mortality. I’ve already had my stomach removed due to precancerous rapidly changing cells..lots of complications since that surgery. Every new concern throws my anxiety into overdrive.

Wish I cld just remove them, one less thing to worry about. I think. Though something else will just take its place, I’m sure.

Sorry to hear about your stomach, thank God you got it on time.

Regarding your breast issues, I have had two scared situations, thank God, benign papillomas, but I was stremely scared both times. One papilloma came with atypia (fea). Even though it is considered the less worrisome kind of atypia, it is atypia and I have decided pbmx. Maybe it is very extreme but peace of mind it is more important to me. I wish you the best. Have you consider genetics tests?
