Hello! I am a brand new member and trying to gather as much information as possible. I picked up my ultrasound results today and have been trying to figure them out with the help of Google. I have an irregular hypoechoic mass and several punctate microcalifications. My Bi Rads is 4, suspicious. Shouldn't there be an a, b, or c along with it? Thank you for your help.

Do you have a biopsy scheduled? You won’t really know what’s going on until after that.

FWIW -- mine was just 4, without specifying A.B.C.

Mine was 4a, the final result was a papilloma with very small atypia

mine is also 4, no a b or c. I had the biopsy and am waiting for the results on Monday or tuesday.

I know 4 is concerning but I also know that a 3 doesn’t trigger a need for a biopsy. And 5 means they really feel it’s probably malignant. So a 4 means they don’t know but need more info. It also seems tied to insurance justification to cover the biopsy

Not all centers/radiologists use the a,b,c - I think that's pretty new. My reports don't have it.

Fingers crossed for you. BI-RADS 4 is still 75-80% chance of being benign.

I do have a biopsy scheduled for this Wednesday. The radiologist told me at my ultrasound that it could be benign but she was leaning towards it being cancer. The waiting, not knowing, and trying to figure out my odds are driving me insane.
