Could it just be lodged breadstick?

Where do I start? I'm surrounded by these ton of bricks and all these new words that I never imagined I'd be Googling for hours!

Went for my (annual) mammogram on July 11. Had relocated last year to very rural MO from Virginia Beach w/now almost exH (who ditched me here) and let's just say healthcare and follow up care is challenging.

After tech did scan she became very adamant about getting my previous Mam. Even looked up the facility in VaBeach on the web & called them to ensure she had everything from me she needed to get films.

I just thought she was amazingly thorough and sweet. We had joked about having dense breasts at our age (48) and how not getting “the letter" any more will be like not getting carded anymore. She even gave me a hug when I left.

As is par with the results for anything I have to stay on top of my Dr's clinic to make sure they get them from the hospital (50 miles away) and kept calling. Well day before yesterday I had an appt sheduled for a sinus infection and again asked about my results.

They were sent to the other office on 7/25 and the hospital had been calling asking why a follow up had not been scheduled. They faxed the report over.

Still have “c" density!

Also have 2.8cm asymmetry in the lateral left breast with irregular margins and architectural distortion likely in superior breast.

They marked the assessment incomplete and recommended more imaging, ultrasound and biopsy as indicated.

So I kept trying to find the simple words “tumor" or “cyst" or “fibroid" or “breadstick." The one's that I associated with breast cancer. I had never heard of these distortions or asymmetry or that hideous one, irregular margins!

And that size! My girls have always believed in doing everything big!

I kept hoping to find just one little article that attributed all three of these things to a cyst that was drained and everyone went home happy. But in 14 hours of straight Google and at least 20 sites, none yet!

But you never know, I ate a lot of breadsticks in the 90's.. and these girls have caught a lot of groceries in their day! If tires can become part of a tree and the tree thrive.. couldn't that just be.. a piece of breadstick??

I'm giving my Dr's office until 9am to call me with my follow up appointment and if they haven't called or made it by then, I'm calling the hospital myself. Luckily I have amazing health insur and I'm not afraid to use it!

Has anyone had or heard of this screen result and it not been bc?

Shelia

Good morning and welcome! Yes, absolutely, it is possible for findings of irregular margins and architectural distortion to end up benign after further imaging. I certainly wish you all the best, and given your recent move my only suggestion is to request and keep copies of the final reports for all of these tests. Mammogram, ultrasound and MRI technologies are all a bit different.
