When will skin be better

hey all! I finished up breast radiation 4days ago. It was a piece of cake! But like they told me, the skin will get worse before it gets better, and that’s the truth, the skin reaction is getting worse since it’s been over. It’s hurting pretty bad under my arm and the skin is very dry and tight. I know I’m on the upswing now, but can anyone give me a timeline of when the skin will be better? And also, when will it be COMPLetELY normal looking? Thanks you guys

My skin broke, was a weeping oozing mess. Took a few weeks for that to heal. Ladies here use various moisturizers, I like Cerave. Call your RO or dermatologist for their recommendation.

    Hi MTNCLMBR,

I think Spookiesmom gave you some good comments.

My radiation treatment went well-I only had some skin ulceration in the last week, and my radiation oncologist jumped on it quickly and it healed well. I’m one month out from the finish of my radiation, and my skin is good, with some of the darker “tan” continuing to lighten. I continue to use Dove moisturing body wash to shower, and I apply aloe vera gel twice day, both products I used the same way during radiation. I also use an SPF 70 sunscreen when I go outside.

So my general advice is to follow the same procedures and use the same products you didduring radiation treatment. Has worked for me.

    Continued best wishes.

hi all, I am a black woman and my skin took a huge hit. Wondering if my color will ever come back. There is no more peeling though, still happy that RaDS are over.

hey all, original poster here. So the skin reaction was realllly bad for about 2 weeks and then boom! Magically all better! Peeled a little and the red color went right away. Thought I'd give an update of my experience. Also, had really bad fatigue after 3pm the two weeks after rads were over. Felt fine in the morning, but at 3pm would get so tired and depressed. Like the bad skin reaction, the fatigue went right away at the two week post-rad mark. That's IT! It was a piece of cake for me. (Disclaimer: I hadn't 20 rads and 4 boost).

    Never again. Goodbye BC
