Sentinel nodes taken with PBMX?

a question for ladies who had PBMX due to LCIS - did your surgeon take Sentinel node/s? My surgeon isn't planning to during pbmx, but said he will do second surgery to take them if cancer shows up on pathology. Someone told me it's often hard to find Sentinel nodes after PBMX, so axillary nodes are taken, with greater risk of lymphedema. That has me a bit worried. Should I ask my surgeon to take Sentinel nodes just in case?

I did not, but had a SNB three weeks post pbmx. Only years later did I discover that a SNB post mx may or may not be successful. Angelina Jolie had the SNB dye put in,but no node was taken. Apparently the dye stays in the system for days even weeks. Look up the Pink Lotus Breast center for a full description of the process.

Thanks, Lucy, that is great info. I will talk to my surgeon about the possibility of doing that with the dye. It makes a lot of sense.
