Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia

I recently had a stereotactic breast biopsy. It showed atypical ductal hyperplasia. I’m meeting with a breast surgeon at the end of this month. The radiologist recommend I have it removed. Has anyone had surgery to remove microcalcifications in the ducts and if so, did any margins come back as ductal carcinoma? They said what they took out during the biopsy were benign but the more I read the more nervous I get. I am still not out of the woods I guess 😫

Momma, there are lots of us here who have had excisional biopsies for atypia. The rate of upgrade in diagnosis is 20% or less.

I had ALH, suspicious for LCIS and nothing worse was found. LCIS is just considered a "marker" for being at higher risk-not the equivalent of DCIS.

Thanks Melissa...I think I just need to stop googling stuff until after I meet with the surgeon! She was booked for weeks, wish I could’ve gotten a sooner appointment!

I have to wait a long time for appointments where I go. I know if they thought I had an emergency they would move me up the line. I know it FEELS like an emergency, but it really isn't. Googling doesn't help because you really don't know much right now
