U/S guided Biopsy Mon the 23
I have hetergenously dense and where would this location be on my breast There is an area of fibroglandular tissue in the left breast at 11 o'clock posterior depth. There are related calcifications.
I'm concerned about pain and for it taking way too long with me having to lay still for so long as I would hope it's not going to be painful but I'm concerned since my breasts are always so sensitive that I'm going to be really feeling pain.
I don't want to risk of having a hyperventilation attack on the table if I feel such a severe amount of pain .
Is there any ways I can reduce the amount of pain going in to my left breast even if they try to numb it and it doesn't get numb all the way as I hate needles always have severe anxiety with needles . Should i ask them to give me a liquid of verseed with the lidocaine injection ?
They say it's going to be a u/s guided biopsy so do you guys have any tips to prevent any painful feeling or to be able to relax more ?
I got a mask to cover over my eyes hoping maybe if i don't see the needle it will help me.

An ultrasound guided biopsy just takes a few minutes- it is stereotactic ones that take a while. Most women come back after their biopsies and say it wasn't a big deal, and nowhere near as bad as they anticipated. If you feel more than a pinch, just tell them you need more lidocaine. I doubt they will give you Versed. My facility wont give any sedation for a needle/core/stereotactic biopsy. If you hyperventilate - well, you are already laying down, so you wont go anywhere. I honestly can't remember anyone saying they hyperventilated.

Well I just went through an ultra-sound guided core needle biopsy six days ago on the tumor beneath my collarbone, and I did hyperventilate on the table, and was shaking, and they gave me I.V. sedation, and oxygen. The sedation helped a lot, and if you feel anxious I would insist on it. You are the patient, they do not know your level of anxiety. The actual procedure did not hurt, since they used local anesthetic. In fact you can't really feel them doing anything, the whole area is numb. And it did not take long. In my case the radiologist took 10 samples and it probably took about two minutes. They laid a wet cloth over my eyes to block from the bright lights and also so I couldn't see anything, thankfully. I am actually more sore a few days later, but I think it is from lymphedema and maybe only a little bit from the biopsy. My post-biopsy soreness is about a 1 or 2 on a pain scale of 1 to 10, so not extreme, more of a discomfort than real pain. I hope that helps. Wishing you well, let us know how it goes.

maybe you can ask your doc for some anti anxiety medication like Xanax to take before? I just had an us guided biopsy yesterday and while it wasn’t awful (I felt zero pain), if I ever have to have one again I’m going to take sometime beforehand.

I just had my US guided biopsy yesterday. I was sent to a general surgeon, he gave me something to relax me and I was sleeping the whole time and went home and slept the whole day. It only took a few minutes I have not had any pain just a little tenderness but only on one of the biopsy sites. When I left the hospital my breast was still numb to the the touch. I have not had to take anything for pain at all. I got a sport bra and purchased one a little bigger than I would normally buy and made sure it would go all the way down to the rib cage. He asked for me to wear a bra for 24 hours after the procedure and i just wore the sport bra to be comfortable. I know you will do just fine. It is not as bad as I thought it was going to be and I was really upset about the whole thing to the point I was hyperventilating days before the procedure. Ask them for something to relax you and they will most likely give you something. I hope this helps you. Send good vibes to you! Please keep us posted on how you are doing

My biopsy went easier than I expected it to be wore a cat mask to it ! The only thing I felt was the quick lidocaine sting that made my feet jump !
I did have severe anxiety before that I was getting nauseauated fearing it was going to be painful and for so long instead it wasn't painful and was shorter than I had expected it to be .
My sxs Right after the Biopsy Nauseau, Very sore shoulder , burning in the sternum area and at the top of the breast bone, tired , and a bit light headed.
Tues Severe pain in the stomach , nauseau still , had twinges in breast area
Wed Period arrived Stomach cramps settled down, tired wanted to continue to sleep after 9 but still had to wake up,as I had stuff to do .
Thurs, not much appetite still made my son his b-day dinner with his friends even tho his b-day isn't until in a week but this was the only day they could make it as they be out of town for awhile like til the mid August . I was tired and falling to sleep almost on the computer after his friends left . Bruising started to appear . Heart burn feeling this day right in the lower part below of the sternum .
Fri Lower part of Armpit is sore it also makes a clicking sound when I move my left arm up and i am very very very tired today . I also haven't eaten much just ate some cheese with guacomole , nutri grain and some egg sandwich for dinner . Today was the first day after the biopsy that I didn't wake up like at 6 am and then fall back asleep as i slept straight thru today ! I do have a bit of a headache
I did get my results back today I am cancer free it's fibrofatty tissue with fat necrosis . So I'm happy about that but can't wait to start feeling more up to par these days to eat more and not feel as tired or sore . But then my cycle could adding to the tiredness too besides !
