Hi, hope all of you will be fine. I want to share my experiance with ki-67 and grade 3. I read lots of articles that talking about ki67, which means speed divides to cancer cells, and the recurrence rate (locally, distant). I know it's subjective but my consultant told me it's important factor to decide your treatment plan.

he told me your ki67 is 70% pluse my grade is 3, it means that I had very very aggressive cancer, even if my type are ER% and PR% strong positive, it's meaningless . so my recuurence rate with chemo, mastectomy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy is around 20-30% ! it's high due to one positive node involved that found after chemo. ( neo adjuvant).

any experience with grade 3 and high ki67 ? really I'm not ok and feeling so bad.

The numbers are statistics and that's all. It doesn't help us as much they help the doctors identifying good treatments. Metastasis depends not only on the type if cancer but on how welcoming is the tissue in which cancer takes residence. Best wishes!

The predict calculator takes Ki into account. They list is as positive = any score over 10%. You can run your stats with it positive and negative & see what they believe the difference is. For me it's only a 2-3% difference in recurrence (I never had Ki67 measured - it's not done here)

Hope, I know you've posted about your fear of recurrence on several occasions. Have you considered seeing a counsellor? I think you might need some coping skills to stop the fear from really occupying your thoughts.

Also focus on what you can do to reduce recurrence. "Physical activity can reduce breast cancer mortality by about 40% and has the most powerful effect of any lifestyle factor on breast cancer outcomes." http://www.cmaj.ca/content/cmaj/189/7/E268.full.pd...

Say your MO is right & your risk is even 30%. If heavy exercise (the more vigorous the better) can reduce that by 40% then you're down to 18% risk. And bottom line is your odds of not recurring are 70% or more, and you can increase that into the 80's with lifestyle choices. Focus on living your life & hoping for the best.

    best wishes ~

Datny, statistic is important to predict your chances in this life.

moth, I checked this UK calculator, it's modern and including the factors such as ki67 to predict the overall survival and hpw many patients were death due to breast cancer. the problem is that they not include AI hormone therapy, no radiotherapy, no PR% . and as I know. the research shows the benefits of AI compare to tamoxifen after menopause, the radiotherapy decrease the recurrence rate so that increase the survival rate and PR+ is a little bit better than negative. so may it increase your percentage + this date were follow-up from 1999. so letsbe positive and say the breast cancer treatments become better so also this factor stand with us in this fighting.

you can take the average of USA & UK calculators to understand how many years left :)

Hope, I had 55% Ki-67 and grade 3 IDC and, like you, had surgery, chemo and now hormone treatment. Our aggressive cancer should respond well to the chemo and your radiation will take care of any remaining cells in the nodes. We've done all that modern medicine can provide. It is now our turn to help our body take care of itself by eating well, exercising, and enjoying life! If that is still not possible for you, then perhaps, as Moth suggested, it is time to visit with a counsellor to address remaining concerns.

Hope99, I used a calculator on nih.gov site to calculate my chances to develop breast cancer (prior to the diagnosis). They were below 1%.

Also look at the signature of users on this site. Some got from stage 0 to stage 4 in a few years, others, stage 3c, are cancer free after many years. There is no way to predict what is going to happen.

Let it go and enjoy the good health. You will be looking back at this time you spent worrying and will regret wasting it. If you have symptoms and feel unwell then of course you should worry, but otherwise relearn to enjoy life despite the history of cancer.
