Has anyone had experience with filing a claim through their private insurer? Many years ago, I purchased Critical Illness Insurance and my cancer meets the criteria (yay? :( ). Any insight into the world of insurance would be most helpful. My doctor completed her portion, next step is submitting. I know how insurance companies are, so am feeling more than anxious.....I am in Canada.

I just signed up for coverage starting January 1st and was looking to see if anyone else has found it useful. How did it work out for you?

I had a friend who has had Aflec for years. They even pay for minor basal cell skin cancer removal. Her husband ended up dying after 5 years with pancreatic & esophageal cancer and they sent her lump sums every time she she submitted paperwork. These payments are not related to any insurance, which paid most of the bills per the policies. A check was sent directly to her.
