Call back for more tests after mammogram

I am 7 years out from lumpectomy and radiation for Stage 1 IDC. Up until now my mammograms have all been okay. I got a call from my oncologist's office that I need to go back and have a diagnostic mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy for a suspicious area. I am beyond terrified. I used a different imaging center this time but this new place is supposed to be so much better. I have other health problems now that complicate the issue. I need some words of encouragement.

Hey mamadog, the stats still apply to you, so hang in, and as Hoppy said you can do this! The new center sounds like they’re being vigilant, which is what we want...it’s the danged waiting that ties us up in knots. Busy is good, make use of Netflix and be plenty kind to yourself. There isn’t anything I can say to make you not worry beyond those stats...roll with them, and post here for support. We got your back! Sending positives.

I was having trouble with my computer and forgot to add that my Oncotype # was a 6 with a 5% chance of recurrence. Still haven’t gotten a call back from the onc. I really want to know if they did compare the results to the films from last year. They still didn’t have them when I went in yesterday for the mammo. I’ve been trying to get them sent from the previous place for a several weeks now

The oncologist's office finally called me back. She was surprised that the imaging center did not go ahead and do the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound as that's the way she wrote the orders. Anyway she thinks this might just be scarring from the original lumpectomy as that is noted in my file from years past. I still need to go ahead with the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound just to be certain. There's not a huge hurry but she said to try and get it done in the next couple of weeks which I will do. You'd think after 7 years I wouldn't freak out so much but I guess that's the nature of the beast. I won't rest easy until the final results are in.
