Worried about cough
Hey ladies:
I need to get this out. I have a cough. A violent cough too. No cold. No illness. Just a cough that comes on. During the day usually, not at night. My chest sometimes feel tight - or is that my imagination?
I had a chest xray end of March at last MO followup. Nothing was there.
So, my cough has been here all of June. Its not getting worse. But I am tired.
So, can mets show up even after a clean xray a few months later? I really don't want to go get it checked out. I am hoping it will be allergies or some such thing.

My fully vaccinated teenage daughter caught Pertussis in April. Her pediatrician tried two rounds of antibiotics and eventually did a chest xray that showed nothing. I was the one that considered Pertussis when looking up ways to help such a horrible cough - she would hardly be able to breathe at times.
We ended up at a Pulmonologist's office. He diagnosed her right away. She had been coughing for more than a month. And I ended up gettting it, too. I had been given antibiotics prophylactically but had already been exposed.
It's something to consider. Apparently the protection from the vaccine wears off fairly quickly and it's still around. Nothing really helps much. She did have a steroid inhaler for a couple of weeks.

If you've already had this cough for a month, you need to get this checked. There are many benign lung conditions that cause prolonged cough. Is it possible for mets to develop in 3 months? Maybe. But my money is on pneumonia, bronchitis, pertussis, or sarcoidosis. A pulmonologist could sort this out, I bet.

Thanks ladies.
I will go get it checked. I did have pertussis when I was a baby apparently. I didn't think I could get it again.
Im not sick. Just tired. No fever, nothing.

I would get it checked. Perhaps it is inflammation from radiation. Symptoms like this are scary though. I do understand

Wallan,
Just get it checked out for peace of mind. My story, I had a persistent dry cough in the fall of 2016. It went on for 6 weeks or so and I had no fever but was feeling tired ( which I believe, in retrospect, was because it caused undue worrying). I mentioned it to my oncologist during my routine check up and she ordered a ct. Now, I am thankful she did just in time. That night, after the ct, I woke up coughing a sinkful of bright red blood. In my mind, I was already as good as dead. It was the hardest 8 hours I waited for the call from my oncologist. Results came back all CLEAR. My cough, of course, promptly resolved and we figured that whatever caused it (we think fall allergies) combined with my daily aspirin, caused me to bleed more than usual from the irritation.
It is very probably a benign reason but get it looked at so you do not waste precious minutes worrying over it.

Just another possibility; a dear friend of ours was traveling and has to come home...horrible cough....dx...pneumonia. They have bacterial, but viral is also possible.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hey all:
My cough is gone. Yeah!!!

From your other post (hives) I was beginning to think the cough was allergy related (yes, it's a real thing). Maybe the antihistamines are helping with the cough too.
Hope the hives clear soon. HATE having stuff happen that I cannot explain!

I do believe cough was allergy related. I took strong Reactine last night and my head cleared. I didn't even realize my sinuses were irritated.
My hives are much better. A few are starting to pop up here and there, but the doc did say I may need longer term treatment.
