Medicare coverage of Lymphedema Surgery

I've had an initial consult with Dr. Chang at the University of Chicago Medicine about the surgery, but no one seems to be able to tell me if Medicare will cover it - not even Medicare! Anybody on this board had the surgery with Medicare?

    britheal - Medicare does cover surgery as long as it’s not cosmetic. Implants as a result of a MX is not considered cosmetic. Also, Medicare is supposed to cover lymphodema surgery as well. There is a movement to change that but Idk how or to what degree but for now they do pay 80% of the approved charge.
