I started ibrance beginning of June and supossed to start letrozole a month later (after I take my second zoladez shot). I know most people start it together, but did anyone start ibrance first like myself? If so, what was the reason.

Thanks

Adykort, I have not heard about anyone taking it alone and I started Ibrance right after it was FDA approved years back. Clinical trials demonstrated that it did not work as a single agent.

Adykort. Most start femara first, while they're waiting on Ibrance to get approved by insurance, etc. Reason, femara is cheap, Ibrance expensive. So, I don't know why your MO wants you to take Ibrance for a month before starting the AI. In the long run, it won't matter which was first.

I/F is a marathon not a sprint. Although FDA won't approve Ibrance without an AI being used with it, there are some MO who think Ibrance does work alone. I am an example of that. We know the femara is not working for me because I have the ESR1 mutation on genomic testing. My tumors are resistant to AI. She says Ibrance is the key player for me. I believe her because of the continued response for 18 months. Even knowing that, I still have to take the femara because that's the only way FDA will approve Ibrance. It's a complicated word we live in. Ha
