edited June 2018 in Stage I Breast Cancer

I haven't posted in awhile. I was diagnosed June 4, 2018. Stage 1 Invasive ductal carcinoma. Met with the surgeon on 06/06. She recommended I get an MRI. I have dense breast tissue. I thought I only had the one mass Mammo and ultra-sound picked up. MRI picked up a second mass, so mastectomy it is. Right under the nipple, so no chance of saving that. I shouldn't have convinced myself that I would have a lumpectomy and radiation and be done. I'm really emotional right now.

    Dina -

I am sorry it turned out worse than first appeared. I had a similar experience. Biopsy and surgery pathology showed results that are normally Luminal A and thus low in risk but my Mammoprint came back "high risk" and basal -- which is most often found where there is triple negative cancer. Even though I am not triple negative , I still have the high risk of recurrence as though I did had triple negative. So I hear you. Good wishes. Polly
