 Hoping for some help.

I have IDC DCIS diagnosis, ER+, PR+ Her2-, nodes are negative,    BUT I have LVI (lymphatic vascular invasion present in the tumor)  I just went for radiation consult and because I have LVI  he lengthened my radiaition from 7-12 treatment course to 21 treatments.  The medical oncology consult said no to chemo since my Oncotype test score was a 16.  I'll do hormone therapy defiantly for at least 5 years.  If it helps, I'm 53 and post menopausal.  Anyone else experience this?????

Thank you!!!

Hi Gigi. Just checking to see how you're doing. I just had my 1st RO appointment following my lumpectomy and SNB (node negative). Since focal LVI was found, RO is suggesting aggressive rads for 3 levels of nodes (i.e., including supra-clavicle). I'm wondering what radiation treatment you ended up following and how things are going. Have 1stMO appointment tomorrow!

    Hi NJGal

I'm doing ok and finding my "normal" again.  Thanks for asking.  I'll try to be of help.  I hope your 1st MO appt went well.

I ended up having 21 treatments of radiation that was from my collar bone to under my breast, over to my sternum to under my arm; face down.  The last 5 of the 21 were called "boost" treatments where the area where the tumor was found and removed was the target.  Due to the LVI I had more treatments.  I am currently taking my oral hormone inhibitor (almost two weeks now).

If you'd like to know more about my experience with my treatments please ask whatever you'd like.  I feel mine was pretty tame and although I had some skin side affects and a little fatigue the treatments and side affects were bearable and not too bad.
