NOT SURE WHAT TO DO
Hi its my first time on this forum although I do log on every day especially when I am having a wobble and need some reassurance.
I finished my treatment just over a year ago for Grade 1 Stage 1 idc. Had mastectomy and rads no node or LV involvement.
I have only had this a couple of days but a rash has appeared all over my chest which looks like eczema but it has also appeared on my good breast. My husband says it looks like a heat rash due to the incredibly hot weather we are having but I'm not so sure because its predominately on the radiated side and I have a small red spot above the mastectomy line that appeared over a week ago. I am looking to have a reconstruction and have an appointment in a week to see the breast surgeon. Should I wait until then or see my gp. It itches like crazy but not at night when I am asleep.
I would be grateful for any advice you may have.
Thank you xx

Have you tried an OTC hydrocortisone cream? I had a funky kind of chest rash a few days ago and that helped. (FWIW--I think we get things there because that area has had a lot of sun exposure in our lives.)

Trying hydrocortisone is a good suggestion, and you can try an antihistamine. If those do not help in a day, call BS or MO and ask to be seen. Do understand that if it improves, you can pretty much rule out inflammatory cancer since that will not improve. If you should spike a temp, be seen immediately to rule out cellulitis. Hoping it goes away. Keep us posted.

I had a rash that looked like a heat rash that appeared on my left side armpit area and stretched down to my lymph area down to my breast and a read splotch on my breast - lasted three days fading each day a little more..onc and breast surgeon told me some kind of contact dermatitis. If breast cancer reappears it will not disappear. However, we decided to do an MRI because it is one year since my diagnosis....so decided to get a baseline and check implants since I fell on one...

Thanks for the replies. I will take your advice and get some hydrocortisone cream from the chemist today. Have been taking the antihistamines since Monday so hopefully they will kick in. If it doesn't show any signs of improvement in the next couple of days I will be paying a visit to the doctors.
