there are three antidepressants that can be used with tamoxifen. Lexapro, Celexa, and Effexor. Good luck with finding one that works for you.

I was taking Zoloft befor I started taking Tamoxifen and my oncologist said I had to switch because Zoloft interferes with Tamoxifen. He gave me 3 options; Lexapro, Celexa, and Effexor. After talking to my Psychiatrist, I chose Celexa (which is basically the same as Lexapro, from what my Psychiatrist said, Lexapro just has an inactive ingredient that makes it slightly different).

I was taking Zoloft not only for depression but also anxiety. I’ve actually found the Celexa works far better for me than Zoloft did

I'm not a pharmacist. Using Drugs/com's interactions checker, it's possible an MAOI like isocarboxazid would be okay, but this class of medications requires a lot of food restrictions. Buspirone may be an option.

On the "no" list are trazodone, bupropion, amitriptyline, and the other SSRIs. You can check others using the medication list at https://www.healthyplace.com/depression/antidepres... and the interaction checker at http://www.Drugs.com.

Be aware that any "natural" antidepressant like St. John's Wort or SAMe may have active constituents that are the same as those in commercial antidepressants, but there may be no research study to identify an interaction.

I was offered the same three options. I took Lexapro many years ago and ended up feeling completely numbed out. I took about 8 weeks to slowly titrate off it, and was still a mess when I finally came off. Two years ago, post BC diagnosis, I opted for Effexor and that worked well for me. Everyone reacts differently, but it's always wise to go slowly when coming off an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety med.

    Good luck!
