Breast cancer patients travel to Germany for costly treatment unavailable in Canada

I have a friend whose wife had colon cancer that metastasized to her liver. She went to Germany for some type of immunotherapy. She came back to the US with some injections to take. She had her liver resected and became cancer free. She also had tumor markers so they could test to see if she had any progression. She went back to her original oncologist here and he said she was fortunate and that was anecdotal. But she sure is glad she did it. Her medical insurance won't pay for any of it. At first, her prognosis was grim 1 year to live and 18 months with chemo. Now there is no cancer.
